Stena Line ferry out of service after COVID-19 case among crew


In light of the situation, the ferry vessel which currently serves the route between Holyhead and Dubin, was forced to cease operations, as all of the crew is under quarantine.

Namely, the vessel was removed from service on November 5 for a deep disinfection cleaning.

According to local sources, there were 52 negative and seven positive coronavirus cases.

What is more, ferry’s crewmembers that tested negative, are self-isolating onboard the vessel and in accommodation onshore in Holyhead.

The seven crew members who found infected by coronavirus, are being cared for and are doing well, while five of whom have no symptoms at all.

At the moment, the vessel is anchored outside Holyhead with a minimum crew. It is not yet known when it can resume in service.

Overall, speaking of coronavirus outbreaks onboard, cruise ship “SeaDream 1” received a preliminary positive test result for COVID-19.
