Containership collides in the large south lock of the Kiel Canal


In fact, “Containerships Arctic” had entered the lock from sea and collided with the lock wall.

According to the latest update, the reason behind the accident was a steering error.

Thankfully, there were no any injuries or oil leaks reported.

Following the collision, the container vessel was initially prohibited from continuing to travel.

What is more, it was marked considerable damage to the port bow of the “Containerships Arctic” and to the masonry, which has not yet been quantified.

In light of the situation, the police authority is currently conducting an extensive investigation to identify the main causes of the incident.

Concluding, speaking of collisions at sea, a boxship recently collided with grounded containership off Batam.
