WE Tech has received a new order from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries’ Shipyard, South Korea to deliver direct drive permanent magnet shaft generators to two new LPG carriers ordered for LPG specialist Geogas Maritime.
The two 90,000 cbm newbuilds have been ordered by Geogas Maritime.
The order comprises a WE Drive (VFD unit), a direct drive permanent magnet shaft generator and a dedicated Power Management System (DPMS). In PTO mode, the vessels’ electrical power will be supplied from the shaft generator alone via the WE Drive meaning the auxiliary generators can be stopped. Utilising the main engine for electrical power generation rather than the gensets results in fuel efficiencies and emissions reductions.
“WE Tech is proud to be the market leader in delivering variable speed shaft generator solutions. Our solutions surpass everyone else in terms of reliability and energy efficiency. We, as well as our customers, strongly believe that our innovative solutions are leading the way into the future of variable speed power generation in the shipping industry,” said Marten Storbacka, Managing Director of WE Tech Solutions.
The equipment is scheduled to be delivered to the shipyard from February 2021.
