GTT’s membrane containment system Mark III Flex
GTT will undertake the tank design of two 174,000 m3 LNG carriers (LNGC) for Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), and four 174,000 m3 LNGCs for Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).
The company will design the LNG tanks of all six units under order at the Hyundai Group shipyards, all of which will be equipped with GTT’s Mark III Flex containment system.
The two HSHI gas carriers are being built on behalf of a European shipowner. Two of the four LNGCs at HHI are to be built on behalf of a European shipowner, while the remaining two are to be built on behalf of an Asian ship-owner.
“We are pleased to sign this new contract with the Hyundai Group shipyards, which once again confirms that the technologies developed by GTT meet the requirements of our customers thanks to their efficiency and safety,” said Philippe Berterottière, Chairman and CEO of GTT.
Series of orders
GTT announced it had been awarded an LNG tank design deal for three new LNG carriers by Chinese shipyard Hudong Zhonghua in June. GTT will design the tanks of the vessels, which will be fitted with the NO96 L03+ membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT.
Meanwhile, SCF Group confirmed today that the latest 10 Arc7 LNG carriers ordered by SMART LNG from Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex were also expected to feature the same GTT Mark III containment design as the first five vessels in the series.
