ABS and Lloyd’s Register (LR) have updated their Common Structural Rules Software (CSRS) to comply with a 1 July Rule Change Notice from IACS.

The update ensures both prescriptive analysis (PA) and finite element analysis (FEA) applications will comply with the latest Rule Change Notice (RCN) from International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) that entered into force on 1 July 2020.

The CSR software products are provided by ABS and LR’s joint venture Common Structural Rules Software (CSRS).

Naval architects can design ships using Napa software ready for evaluation by classification societies.

The CSR PA and CSR FEA products were upgraded earlier in 2020. The PA package now has the flexibility to allow users to directly import the NAPA cross sectional structural data and the FEA software has been enhanced to carry out local model analysis.

The software provides users with an easy way to evaluate ship designs against CSR and is employed by more than 600 users. Regular updates will continue to improve functionality and address rule changes.

The updated CSR FEA and PA applications are available for download from the Common Structural Rules Software LLC website.
