Shipping Corp of India (SCI) has offloaded its ageing MR1 product tanker
Sampurna Swarajya for an undisclosed sum.
The company said in a stock exchange filing that the 1999-built 30,000 dwt ship was sold and delivered on an “as is where is what is” basis at Ennore anchorage in India.
Earlier broker reports had linked an unknown UAE buyer to SCI’s second-oldest ship at around $4.2m.
Following the sale, India’s flagship line will have 30 tankers left in its fleet, with an average age of 15 years.
