French container carrier CMA CGM resumes Beirut port calls
French container carrier CMA CGM has joined other liners in resuming Beirut port calls – arrival and departure of vessels – according to statement late Aug.13.
According to the company, damage at the Beirut terminal was “less serious than what could be expected” after a deadly explosion ripped through parts the port city on Aug. 4.
On Aug.10, CMA CGM’s first vessel, M/V Nicolas Delmas, had already called on Beirut.
Earlier in the week starting Aug.10, container carriers Ocean Network Express and Hapag-Lloyd both announced restored operations at the port.
In the aftermath of the Aug. 4 blast, all three carriers had announced cancellations and diversions as they assessed the impact.
