China: Freight throughput preserves steady expansion

Official statistics reveals that China’s freight throughput at ports posted steady expansion in the first 10 months of this year, increasing 3.7 percent year on year to 11.93 billion tons.

At the start of this year, the Ministry of Transport extended the numerical range from main ports to all ports throughout the country.

According to the ministry, foreign-trade freight throughput hit 3.76 billion tons in the January-October period, increased 4.4 percent year on year.

The ministry added that the container throughput at ports curved in by 0.03 percent year on year to 217 million twenty-foot equivalent units throughout the same period.
