African Terminal Bidding Deadline Extended

The bidding deadline for a terminal concession at an African port has been extended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Angola has extended the bids submission deadline for the concession and operation of the multipurpose terminal of Port of Luanda to 30 June, the Concession Evaluation Commission has said.

Launched on 16 December 2019, the international tender had previously set 30 March this year as the deadline for the opening of the bids, said Xinhua, China’s official press agency.

With an annual handling capacity of about 2.6m tonnes, the multipurpose terminal at the Port of Luanda handles both general cargo and containers. The company that wins the international tender will manage the terminal for 20-25 years.

The main aim of the tender is to promote development and improve port efficiency.

Local and international companies with experience in port management are invited to take part in the international tender, the commission said.
