Two Hamburg-based shipbroking companies ARA Shipbrokers and JP Maritime Services & Broking (JPMSB) have agreed to join forces.
Moving forward, ARA and JPMSB will market their sale and purchase broking services together under the ARA umbrella.
ARA was founded in 2011 and is best known in the fields of containerships, MPP and coasters but also on the bulker front since 2020. The company had four full-time brokers before the partnership with JPMSB.
JPMSB was established in 2015 and is fully owned and managed by Jan Preugschat (pictured left), who started as a broker in 1985 and has since worked in several senior positions in Hamburg, Hong Kong and Singapore as well as more than eight years for a major Chilean shipping and logistics conglomerate, handling the fleet renewal for shipowning entities in Chile, Peru and Argentina.
Whilst both companies will act in their appearance under the ARA umbrella, they will keep the same contact details as before.
Sven Oest, co-founder and partner at ARA, said: “We are very happy to bring these two well-placed companies together. Jan has a great attitude and vast experience in the business. He can clearly enhance our capabilities and know-how when it comes to bulkers, tankers and LPGs.”
“Coming fresh out of my one-year sabbatical I am very enthusiastic about this agreement with ARA that offers so many synergies. I have closely followed Sven and the team’s track record and impressive development to one of the largest Hamburg-based independent ship sale and purchase broking houses over the last years. I am convinced that we will have a lot of fun and consequently also success together,” added Preugschat.
